LAHORE: Water scarcity and poor management of water resources can lead to loss of biodiversity and agricultural production, increase in diseases and reduced economic growth and the Ministry of Environment is doing its best to ward off such issues in the country.

India's National River Ganges

India on Tuesday declared the river Ganges, as the country's first national river with a separate authority to monitor its cleanliness. The decision was taken at a meeting in New Delhi chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with ministries of water resource, environment, forest and urban development.

Singapore unveils climate change strategy

The Singapore government released its national strategy for addressing climate change on Friday. The National Climate Change Strategy sets out how Singapore will address the various aspects of climate change, according to a statement from the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
